We pay respect to the Traditional owners of the land, Elders past and present and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people everywhere. The history and knowledge is forever embedded in our culture and identity.
Throughout the continent, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have used science over the last 65,000 years to not only survive, but thrive. Our culture is the oldest in the world and still to this day culture and knowledge is passed down from generation to generation.
Throughout the 65,000 years, knowledge was gained and shared through stories, song and dance as the first scientists passed on the lessons of the land, Sea and sky to the future scientists of today,. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people called this caring for Country and all the animals and plants that live on country. With the notion of if you care for country the country will care for you. Now more than ever we need this knowledge to help protect all the animals and plants that live on this country.
