Add to that… he’s part Aboriginal!!! First featured late sixties, his colour of skin immediately sparked outcry by racist community members.

In this piece, I bring these iconic cartoon characters to this continent, within a bonafide ‘Blak Douglas’ Western Desert landscape.

Creating this image was quite nostalgic for me. Much of my formative art was trained upon ‘learning’ to draw existing cartoon characters from newspaper strips. ‘Peanuts’, ‘The Wizard of ID’, ‘Snake Tales’, ‘Smurfs’ etc etc. So this fictitious illusionary adaptation stands as a proud attempt at advancing upon the honoured egalitarianism of the profound work of Charles M. Shulz.
