When artist Blak Douglas took a DNA test last year, he knew the results would be mixed. You couldn’t grow up in Sydney’s Blacktown in the 1970s with “my white mother” and a proud “black father from the Dhungatti people around Kempsey” without being challenged about your ethnicity. Racism came from both sides.
